About Me
How I Got Involved with the Colon and Poo
I talk a lot about poo in my life because I really believe that if we keep an eye on our poo we can start to be aware of our own health. Our mothers do it when we are babies. Look at poo, the smell, colour, consistency; these are the clues that help us answer the questions we have about our own health.
I discovered natural health in order to heal myself. My own physical health was never high on my list of priorities - not until my mother died and the grief I felt propelled me into a healing crisis. I could not eat. I stopped eating whole foods and fasted for 30 days, drinking concoctions of powder, going to healers and finally allowing my body to talk to me, to heal. That was when I learned about organic food. What I understand now is that this was the beginning of a lifelong journey for me, and I wish now that I knew what colonics were then.
I left the West Coast and came to Toronto to see more than rain. I volunteered with the radio opirg collective on a local radio station, 89.5 CIUT. One of the things I learned there was that if we hope to heal our surroundings, our world and our collective consciousness, we must begin our process of individual healing. After interviewing a colon hydrotherapist, the members of the collective started to get colonics - we ‘juiced’, we fasted, we learned a great deal of information on health and wellbeing.
In 2002 I trained here in Toronto at the Canadian Centre for Natural Health & Healing. I was also working as a school bus driver, which was my first introduction to transportation workers/professionals. The Toronto Transit Commission hired me; I drove a bus for a little over 3 years. I think that driving public transit is a hard job (like constipation), sometimes debilitating. It involves long hours, restraining your body functions because you are stuck in traffic, sitting for long parts of the day. Not listening to your body’s desire to release prolongs the travel time of your poo, forcing toxins to remain in your colon. I know because the job propelled me into my next major healing crisis while driving the bus, the stress, the migraines, the sick days. I was tired of cars and traffic.
That was when I began to build Hosti, working to create a vision of health. Healing is a process that is life long. I went to Texas to train at an IACT approved school, joining the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy as an intermediate member. The device I selected is the Angel of Water ©, manufactured in the US and approved by Health Canada.
I am always working to continue to educate myself, and have just finished my CNHP (Certified Natural Holistic Practitioner) program at the Jan Benham School of Holistic Studies http://www.aromashoppe.com/p/institute. I have always been drawn to the use of essential oils. I am excited to have the certification so that I can better share my skills with you and your loved ones. Feel free to come to the clinic and try a facial or reflexology treatment, experience the power of theses gems called essential oils. I felt that these skills were important in order to be able to treat the whole in you and me. I am now registered with the http://www.canadianexaminingboard.com/.
Hosti is my place to help you soften your poo and get it out. You honour me by allowing me to be one of the witnesses and facilitators in your journey to real & natural health. I will look forward to meeting with you and hearing your stories about your life and health.
